French gag show specialist Novavision has concluded deals to sell its programming to digital media company MoMedia International, as well as broadcasters in Brazil, Colombia, Switzerland and the Middle East. The Paris-based prodco, which specialises in non-verbal hidden camera gags, has signed an agreement with Momedia - in which Endemol owns a 25% stake - for the 'broadcast' of 40 episodes of Novavision's Pop Corn TV show on MoMedia's Fastweb. The prodco has also signed an agreement with Middle Eastern broadcaster ART for 12 half-hours of its Junior Hidden Camera show and four episodes of its Pop Corn TV Christmas specials. In addition, Novavision has signed a two-year contract with Brazilian TV channel Rede Record, has agreed to provide long-time French-Canadian client TQS with 300 new candid camera productions, and has concluded two agreements with a local broadcasters in Colombia and Switzerland. Earlier this month, Novavision president François-Xavier Poirier told C21 he was currently in talks with Google and video-sharing website Dailymotion over the launch of an online channel for the company's Popcorn TV brand, saying he wants "24 hours of non-stop, non-verbal gags".
Paris, April 2nd 2008. Managing Director, François-Xavier Poirier announced today that Novavision had concluded a significant deal with US network NBC Universal. The deal, a first for Novavision in the USA, will see the broadcast the Candid Camera Popcorn TV clips on NBC’s KWHY – TV in 2008. Rodrigo Escandon, Programming Manager at KWHY-TV who oversaw the deal commented: "KWHY decided to use Novavision's clips because of their high production quality and hilarious comic elements." François-Xavier Poirier added: “This deal marks the start of what we believe will be a long-standing relationship. The US deal confirms the huge popularity of the show that has already secured excellent ratings in territories as diverse as France, India, Brazil, Germany, Italy and Spain to name but a few, which proves the truly international humour of Candid Camera Popcorn TV”. Novavision is launching a brand new strand of hilarious HD gags and TV programmes for children at the upcoming MIPTV 2008 Juniors Candid Camera are 1-3 minute non-dialogue gags performed by kids and youngsters aged from 8-13 years old for youths of their own age. Novavision is launching the first 50 sketchs, that are available for international broadcast at MIPTV 2008. Also being launched at MIPTV is Pop Corn TV Junior, the 26’ compilation of some of the best Junior Candid Camera sketches. Over 12 Pop Corn Tv Junior shows will be offered and a new 26’ show is being produced every week. French video gag specialist Novavision is launching season 5 and 6 of its series Zeze Candid Cameras at Mipcom, comprising 150 fresh hidden camera gags. In total, the company is now offering 400 clips to international buyers at the Cannes market. These hilarious dialogue-free candid camera segments range from one to three minutes and are targeted at viewers aged 7 to 77. Most of them are filmed in Paris and offer a fresh look and twist to this genre of programming. The clips are also packaged in a show titled Pop Corn TV (40x26’), which has no host or dialogue to widen its international appeal. Enhanced by original and dynamic video animation, Pop Corn TV includes a two-minute presentation of the show, the previous week’s best gags, and a quick preview of the next week’s show. The short-format and non-verbal nature of hidden camera gags make them perfectly adapted to the international market, reaching all audience demographics. A producer of hidden camera clips since 2002, Novavision has in the past year become the world’s biggest producer in this niche and now produces more than 400 clips a year, with 12-15 new gags every week. The Paris-based company’s output has won over television audiences throughout the world, from India to Brazil. The latest signings include all the channels in the German group RTL and the Fox channels in Italy. The fast-paced clips have also proved a hit on mobile phones, Novavision having signed recent deals with Vodafone, Swisscom and Arena Mobile Asia Mobibase. Paris, April 6 : Novavision has licensed the cable, terrestrial broadcast, Internet and mobile rights for ZeZe Candid Camera, a series of hidden-camera clips, to UTV in India, and 25x26-minute episodes of Pop Corn TV, compilations of gags from the ZeZe series, to the terrestrial channel SBT in Brazil. Aeromexico has also signed up to show clips on its airlines, and TMC Télé Monte Carlo has acquired 250 clips. Elsewhere, Novavision has sold packages to Switzerland’s TSR, Moroccan network 2M, Teleamazonas in Ecuador and to Spanish channels ETB and Television de Galicia. Novavision has also struck up a deal with Sabbah Pictures for distribution of Pop Corn TV and ZeZe Candid Camera in the Middle East.
Mumbai: French video gag specialist Novavision has announced that it has sold its series of hidden camera clips titled Zeze Candid Camera to Ronnie Screwvala's UTV for cable, terrestrial broadcast, Internet and mobile phone at MipTV in Cannes. UTV's latest broadcast venture is a youth based brand Bindass that will kick off in India with a television channel, followed by online and mobile activities. Each hidden camera gag in the Zeze Candid Camera series lasts 1 to 3 minutes, and in each one several dozen people are set up. The clips are available individually or packaged as Pop Corn TV. The slapstick comedy is served up without presenter or audience, instead enhanced with animation by UK-based animator Bruce Dunlop and Associates, whose clients include BBC Entertainment, National Geographic and ESPN. It is because they are not dialogue-driven, its is said that candid camera clips are adapted for the international market and reach all audience demographics.
Mobile content distributor Mobile Streams has signed a distribution agreement with MoMedia International for the distribution of comedy programmes Kamikaze Videos and TV ZeZe in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. MoMedia International is a distributor of entertainment programmes for digital media channels including mobile phone networks, broadband internet and IP TV/video on demand. Under the contract, MoMedia's Kamikaze Videos and TV ZeZe will be added to Mobile Streams' Comedy Channel. The Kamikaze Videos content will include video, wallpaper, ring tones, and Mobile TV content. The content is based on the series, which features 'extremely reckless people who seem to court death.' TV ZeZe is a hidden camera show, and the content will feature video content. Kamikaze Videos and TV ZeZe will be available first to Vodafone subscribers in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand through the Vodafone Live Comedy Channels which are managed by Mobile Streams.
